| |
- The sustainable architecture and engineering will be transparent through exposed special features and educational displays aimed at creating a sense of pride and cooperative participation in keeping the building functioning at maximum greenness.
- Common spaces in living areas will be maximized to facilitate interaction and group events, especially meals. The Gaia Center’s common spaces will be available as well.
- An interfaith chapel will be a quiet area for meditation and services.
- Books, magazines, DVD’s, and journals that focus on the goals of Gaia House will be available in the library and on shelves and racks throughout the building.
- A workshop-studio for arts and crafts will be provided.
- Heritage materials will be available including photo and video albums and displays relating to supporting religious and other donor groups, inspirational leaders such as R. Buckminster Fuller, and the regional natural and social ecology.
- The artwork and class projects of current and former residents will be displayed.
- Residential floors and units will be named for the values of Gaia House, heroes and heroines, and supporting individual and group contributors.
- Names and photos of current and former residents will be posted.
- A fair trade and globally oriented natural foods convenient store with a coffee and juice bar will be available 24/7.
- Also living in the building would be campus ministers, perhaps active or emeritus faculty, a pet or two, and numerous plants, especially on the roof garden.
- Campus ministry offices and public multipurpose areas will bring in a variety of interesting university and community related activities on the lower floors.
